Lima GWR railcar

Postby Hardwicke » Thu Aug 03, 2023 6:46 am

Does anyone know the colour of the window frame insides on a GWR railcar (angled series)? A colour photo of one in green suggests brown.
Topic in GWR coaches suggests maroon.

1927 GWR abandoned fully lined for plain two colour livery. At that point ends (except railmotors and trailers) were black and window frames and bolections were mahogany.

1947 Frames of drop windows and recessed surrounds, top inside doorway check, inside check of door pillars and doorway pillars painted maroon. Ends black.

Ordsall Road (BR(E)), Forge Mill Sidings (BR(M)), Kirkcliffe Coking Plant (BR(E)), Swanage (BR (S)) and Heaby (LMS/MR). Acquired Thorneywood (GNR). Still trying to "Keep the Balance".

Info on both GW era and BR would be useful as I have both.
